A storyboard is a basic sketch of a piece of footage.
Storyboards can be useful and have great importance for all
projects no matter what the scale or budget. Our production group is going to
use a storyboard in order to plan out our idea in the pre-production stage to
avoid complications and disagreements on set with the vision for the opening
sequence. It will be important to my group as it well serve as a visual aid
that will help to simplify our idea and also allow us to plan the technical
elements and how we can approach them when filming. Storyboards will also
be important in helping us plan our idea
and be creative, as well as managing our time well. It is much easier to spend
time in the pre-production stage planning the idea rather than once you are on
set.
Storyboards are also used by the industry in order to save
both money and time. Films are becoming much bigger and more expensive and so
it is important to take time planning the idea in order to limit waste. CGI is
particularly expensive and so it is very important that these are well planned
out because they take a very long time and can be extremely expensive.
Storyboards also ensure that everyone in the group is on the
same page and it allows you to prevent any disagreements occurring regarding
the vision for the film during the production stage. Storyboarding will ensure
that everyone in the group is visually on the same page as well as to provide
us with the opportunity to see our idea visually and if needs be allow us to
change the order of the shots to create diversity and interest in our opening
sequence. Storyboards are also important
in the post production stage when editing as they allow you to check the order
of the sequence and refer back to the original idea.
Well done for explaining not only why storyboard is important but also linking it back to your idea. Great use of pictures. You could add at what other stages a storyboard is useful, as well as who uses it. But an overall excellent post.
