Set Designs

When we were thinking about how we could design our set creatively we decided to use the life simulation game 'Sims 4' as this program allows you to build, design and create homes and buildings of any kind. We thought that this program would allow us to see our idea in a more realistic way and give us a better idea of how it will actually look on the day due to the fact that it allows us to create 3D images of the set.

I imagine that the 1920's jazz club will look something like this as the girls will be dancing on the stage in their flapper dresses and the stage will be dressed quite lavishly with dark curtains and instruments in the background. The colour scheme will be quite dark and the set will appear quite mysterious and dark. We probably wouldn't use a grand piano as these are very expensive and we are more likely to use a standard piano. The dancers will be positioned in front of the musicians. The furniture will also be of the style and era.

When the club changes into a funkier more update version at the peak in the song the lighting and colours will change but the stet design will essentially stay the same. We would like to have a fluorescent light floor and lots of contemporary furniture to match this.

Another element to our music video is the group of dancers dancing in a modern/contemporary style in front of an infinity screen. Here is what we have pictured for this element:

The final element to our music video is set in a shipping container which is set up like a scientist's lab which will be quite dark and mysterious. We want this set up to appear like a run down office and will include props such as an old computer and lots of other props that will reflect the setting being a scientists lab.

Through using the virtual game Sims 4 this has enabled us to get a 3D image of our idea and this has allowed us to see what it will really look like which has helped us to visualise our idea. I think that our idea for the sets are really strong and I think that they will work well with each other as well as helping to convey the narrative of the music video.

Here is a video that Evelyn created which shows how we made the 3D set designs and gives you a better perspective and more detail into how the sets will look.
