Audience Profile for Group Idea 2

After doing some research into real artists who have similar images, websites, music videos and star images's I have been thinking further about what the target audience would be and also what kind of record company our band would be likely to get signed to.

I believe that the target audience for the band would probably be male and female teenagers and young adults possibly between the ages of 13 and 25 as their music would be able to cover a broad range of different age groups and would be enjoyed by the younger generation in my opinion. I think that because the start image values that they represent include youthfulness, and success against the odds that it is likely that people of this age group would be attracted to these values and therefore be interested in the band and their music.

I'm not exactly sure what Record Company would be likely to sign my band. I believe that it would likely be one that has many other artist of the rock/pop genre as well as on that targets a similar target audience to the one that I believe our band would target as this would improve and increase the size of the target audience. I think that the kind of record company that would be interested in my band would be Sony Music entertainment as they have signed many successful and popular pop/rock artists in the past and I believe that the artists who they have singed have similar audiences to the on that my band would have. Although, the original band Deluka is actually singed to is Jive Epic and Vel records which are a lot less well known than Sony Music entertainment.

Audience profiling is a way of categorising your target audience in a more specific way focusing on not only their gender and age but also their socio-economic background. It is useful for institutions to be able to build up detailed accounts of how audiences are constructed. Rather than seeing audiences as masses or in simple numerical terms, it is common practice to find ways of segmenting the audience. This segmentation can be achieved both demographically as well as psychographically.

I think that for this track and also taking into account the values of the star image and the target audience for the band I would say that the audience profile would consist of male and female teenagers and young adults who would probably fall into the B and C1 categories on the JICNAR scale. I would say that the attitudes, beliefs and values of these people would consist of being fun, creative, easily inspired, down to earth and have an individual style and personality.

Through applying the VALS psychographical profiling system which is based on values, attitudes and lifestyles I would say that our audience for this band would be experiencers who are young, enthusiastic, impulsive and rebellious and they seek variety and excitement and are looking for something new, offbeat and risky. They enjoy partaking in outdoor activities, sport and social activities and like to be engaged in fashion, music and film. Additionally they are also strivers who seek motivation and approval from the world around them.

Due to the fact that our audience would be mainly teenagers I would say that some of the teenage VALS that they would possess the qualities of an innovator because they would be the kind of people who wish to make their mark. I believe that these qualities would work hand in hand with the star image for the band as well as the lyrics to the track.
