Researching Group Idea 2

I have been researching real artists who are similar to the one we have created for the track Home by Deluka in terms of websites, music videos and images in general. I have been researching artists in the similar genre as well as people with the same look and videos that are similar to what we wants to do.

I think that in terms of similar bands to Deluka considering their rock/pop genre I would say that their image an style is similar to Kids of 88, Nations afire and Paper Pilots. I would also say that the star image and the look of the artist is very similar to these bands with a kind of mysterious look which is quite edgy and harsh but also trendy and current.

The official website for Deluka is quite mysterious, dark and creates curiosity for the audience which are elements that I would want to replicate when creating our own website. Below is a link to the website:

I have also done some research into some other bands are artists whose websites are similar tot he one that we are thinking of creating in terms of layout, style, colours and overall look. I think that we would want to incorporate an element of something pscyhaldeic and colourful but also mysterious and unknown through the use of imagery and colours. Below are some screenshots from official websites of some other bands that I believe are similar to the idea we have in mind. 

In terms of what we want the album artwork to look like and some visual ideas for the campaign I would like to take inspiration from psychadelic artwork as well as create an element of surrealism which I believe would attract an audience who enjoy this genre of music and it would also compliment the star image as well as the meaning and visual ideas we have for the track. 

  

In terms of music videos that are similar to what we want to create within our own music video we have been inspired by some of OK GO's music videos as they use very inventive and creative ideas that are quite out of the box and wacky but fit well with the lyrics and message of the song and also match the star image of the band. I would like to consider using these influences to create something similar for our own music video possibly using the idea of umbrellas or a flash mob. 

As well as looking at inspiration from other bands and artists in terms of similar music videos, images and websites. I have also been looking at bands and artists who have similar social networking sites and designs for their pages. I have realised that the kind of look that I would like to explore from the social networking side is something fun and interactive as well as fitting in nicely with the star image of the band and the music video and website in order to create a cohesive and clear campaign that carries similarities across all three products. 

Due to the fact that Deluka's record companies are Vel Records and Jive Epic which are not very well known record companies as well as the fact that Kids of 88's record company is Sony Music entertainment and the record company for the Paper Pilots is Jet Part Records and UsedBinPop music I believe that it would be likely that the kind of record company who would manage and produce music for our band would be not very well known and would also have other artists and bands of the similar rock/pop genre. 



In terms of the artists look and her star image I would say that she would have an organic image and she would want the focus to be more about the music and less about her appearance. I would say that she would be keen to stay out of the spot light and display the values of stardom such as youthfulness, rebellion, originality, creativity as well as an anti-authoritarian attitude. This would make her relatable for the audience although she would also be extraordinary. I envision the artist to have dark hair and dark eyes although not to look too emo or goth but more cheeky and fun,
