Editing 6

In today's editing session we showed some peers our first draft of our music video and our progress in order to get some feedback. One of our peers mentioned the fact that the clip of Klaudia playing the saxophone at the beginning doesn't work due to the fact that the saxophone hasn't come into the track yet ad therefore this clip appear to be out of lace and looks quite odd. This happens at about 10 seconds into the video. We hadn't picked up on this point and so getting feedback proved to be very useful as it alerted us to an issue that we were not previous aware of.

We also talked about having a super fast section from 2:15 to 2:30 in order to provide some variation within our video as well as giving the audience a bit of a shock as the start of the video is reasonably slow. We discussed various options such as having the whole 15 seconds cuts super fast but then we decided tat this might look out of place with the rest of the editing and so we have decided to go with a fast editing section at the start of this section in the track and then this gradually slows down back to the normal rhythm of the cutting within the video. This will break up the editing pattern in the video and therefore provide some variation.

I came up with the idea of having Klaudia's fingers pressing down on the gold saxophone which then appears to turn it into the pink saxophone. I thought that this would provide a good transition from the 1920's element to the futuristic element but unfortunately when we tried it out it looked odd and not as effective as I had fist thought and therefore we decided to go with a flash back and forth of the gold and pink saxophones as this looked a lot more effective.

When obtaining feedback we also were asked to consider when to bring in the futuristic section and consider either bringing it in earlier within the video or just providing glimpses of it throughout before bringing it in properly to make sure that it doesn't look like too much of a drastic jump from one element to the next.
