Filming Roles

We have been thinking about our filming roles for our shoot day and considering who would be most appropriate for which roles depending on their skills and what each person can offer the group.

I think that I am going to take on the role of Director and Art Director.
The director is responsible for organising and instructing the actors and therefore they are in charge of the overall production. The art director is is responsible for location, props, costume and makeup including ensuring continuity.

I believe that I am going to be most suitable for these roles because I am really organised and so I will be able to make sure that everything is sorted out and prepared for the shoot day as well as organising the shoot day in terms of the dancers, musicians and the mad scientist. In addition, I am an theatre student s and so i have contacts in the theatre department in terms of getting props, costumes and set and I also have friends who are dancers, musicians as well as makeup artisits and hair stylisits. I think that I will be very good at doing this job because I have the appropriate skills.

Evelyn is going to take on the role of being the camera person.
This role involves operating the camera and filming all of the footage, making sure that the shots are framed, and focused. This role involves very good technology skills as well as being very knowledgebale and skilled with knowledge of what shots to use etc.
I think that Evelyn will do this job really well because she is a member of the film academy and so she is very comfortable with using the cameras. She is also a photography students and so knows a lot about camera in particular specifics on framing and focusing. I certainly think that Evelyn will make a brilliant camera person as she is very talented with cameras.

Chris is going to take on the role of being the producer for our music video as well as doing the sound playback and operating the lighting desk.
A producer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shoot, organising the other memebrs of the production team and ensuring a smooth running of the shoot. He is respobsle for the managerial aspects of the shoot.

Chris will be responsible for the sound playback which is the act or process of replaying an audio or video recording, as to monitor quality or check a recorded message.
The lighting desk involves being responsible for moving the lights, setting up the lights as well as choosing the brightness, colour and size of the light.
I think that Chris will be very good at this job due to the fact that he is quite organised and he has a good vision for how he wants the music video to look and I think that he will do a good job at overseeing everything and giving advice to the other members of the production team. In addition, Chris will also be good at operating the lighting desk and doing the sound playback as he is very god with technology and feels very comfortable with using these tools.

Overall, I think that we all bring different skills to the production team and I believe that we will do a good jobs at our chosen roles because we all have the appropriate and required skills in order to carry out these tasks and these roles.

I want to make the point that media production is a from of social collaboration which requires a division of labour and therefore we have tried to identify which members of the production group have the specialised skills in order to manufacture the right shots and provide the correct representation of the star image for the ‘pop promo’ and single release.
